In this TedTalk, microbial researcher Rob Knight, highlights the importance of our gut microbiome and discusses the mind-blowing research that is happening in the field of fecal transplants!
My favourite line from the talk: “The 3 pounds of microbes you carry around with you may be more important for some health conditions than every single gene in your genome.”
Conditions that have been directly linked to imbalanced gut flora (and for which fecal transplants are showing promise) include autism, heart disease, obesity, depression, MS, to name a few.
If this doesn’t convince you to make your gut health a priority I don’t know what will!!
